Back-to-School Night:

 

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at next week's Back-to-School Night (Thursday, September 15).  This year's program begins at 5:45pm in the Del Mar gym with a brief presentation about our math program.  The first period class presentations will begin promptly at 6:15pm in your child's first period classroom.

 

Your child will provide you with a copy of his/her schedule; extra copies will be available in the school office.  You will be following your child's schedule in which you will spend ten minutes with each of your child's teachers to learn more about the program, methods of instruction, and logistical information. 

 

Please note-this is a general information meeting for adults only, and not a time to engage teachers in specific questions about your child's progress. 

 

Upcoming Parent Education:

 

Mark your calendars: Our first Parent Education meeting of this year is scheduled for Friday, September 23 at 8:30am in the Info Media Library. Drs. Kover and Gold, Mr. Sawyer and I will engage interested parents in a two fold presentation: 1) Back-To-School Night follow-up with information and tips about navigating the school website and online grades; and 2) Parenting for middle school students' success: fostering a growth mindset and keeping lines of communication open amidst the exciting developmental stages of these young adolescent years.

 

This year's Challenge Success conference entitled Media Rules: Healthy Connections in the Digital Age is Friday, September 30, 7:00pm at Stanford University-www.challengesuccess.org\ Tickets are required for this interactive session with keynote addresses by a panel of distinguished educators and psychologists on raising healthy, balanced, motivated, successful kids.
