Senior Citizens Parcel Tax Exemptions

Dear Property Owner,

Enclosed is the application for the Senior Exemption from the Reed Union School District Parcel Tax. Property owners age 65 and older are eligible for this exemption provided that the property is their legal, principal residence.

To apply, please complete the application form (linked here) and return the signed document to our office, along with the following:

Proof of Age (copy required)

  • Driver’s license, state ID card, passport, or birth certificate

Proof of Residence (copy required)

  • Recent PG&E or water district bill (dated within the last six months) showing your name and the physical address of the property

Trust Documents (copy required, if applicable)
If your home is owned under a trust, please provide copies of the following pages:

  • First page of the trust

  • Page naming you as Beneficiary of the Trust or confirming the trust applies for your benefit

  • Signature page

  • Property description page (Exhibit/Schedule A) referencing the parcel/lot number or property address

Important Notes

  • Once approved, the Reed Union School District will notify the Marin County Department of Finance. Applicants will also receive confirmation by email.

  • Approved exemptions remain in effect each year the applicant continues to qualify; annual reapplication is not required.
