• Welcome to the Reed School Family Handbook!

Reed School offers a nurturing climate for the primary age student. In addition to a full Common Core California standards-based academic program, there is a school-wide focus on developmentally appropriate activities and positive reinforcement.

We are committed to helping every child become a confident learner and a respectful, responsible citizen by nurturing, teaching, and inspiring each child to thrive in a challenging, dynamic world. We hope to develop in students a great love of learning and confidence in their uniqueness and potential. We involve students in a full range of learning activities to achieve academic excellence, critical thinking skills, and creative, personal and social responsibility. We teach students to be aware of their roles and responsibilities in their classrooms, the school, the local community, and the larger global community. We work cooperatively with staff, parents, district administration, and community members to create the best possible environment for our students and school community. Activities at Reed Elementary help children develop leadership skills, a sense of community, and an appreciation for diversity.

The handbook outlines some of our programs, policies and procedures, and the expected behavior for our community. Please read through it and join us in partnership as we strive to create one community with respect and dignity for all.

Please sign the RUSD Family Handbook Acknowledgment Form after reading this handbook and return it to your child's school.
