Bel Aire News FlashMarch 21, 2018An Important Note Regarding AttendancePrincipal's LetterDear Parents:As we enter our final trimester, I would like to remind families that regular, on-time attendance is important for all students. In reviewing Bel Aire attendance rates thus far, I was disappointed to see that absences have doubled in our second trimester.Schools are required to track attendance and communicate this information with families. You can see a record of your child's absences on his/her report card. Report cards were recently mailed home and are also available online via Alma, our student information system. All students are expected to attend school on a consistent and on-time basis. If your child is going to be tardy, absent, or leave school early for any reason, please be sure to email (email@example.com) OR call (415-388-7100 extension #4) and notify the office. It is important to note that even when parents report absences, only those due to to illness, medical appointments, religious observances, and/or family emergencies are excused. In accordance with California Education Code, a student who accumulates 3 full days and/or more than 30 minutes on any 3 days of unexcused absences, is considered truant. These notices are being mailed to families this week.
For additional information about RUSD policies related to attendance and truancy please refer to Board Policy 5113 and Administrative Regulation 5113 (Absences and Excuses) and Board Policy 5113.1 andAR 5113.1(Chronic Absence and Truancy).Speaking of Attendance . . .Religious holiday observance is an excused absence, but please remember to let us know so that we can update our records!
