Dr. Kimberly McGrath, RUSD Superintendent since 2021Dr. McGrath became Superintendent on July 1, 2021, bringing 30 years of extensive experience in
public education to our community. Dr. McGrath is a dedicated instructional and visionary leader 
committed to excellence and the implementation of research-based practices to help all students
reach their maximum potential. Her career reflects a passion for high expectations and accelerating
students; this commitment was recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education with an invitation to
the Research-to-Practice Summit in Washington, D.C. Dr. McGrath began her career as an elementary
teacher, earning recognition as a state finalist for Teacher of the Year. She earned her bachelor’s degree
in Science from the University of Texas, followed by a master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
Her administrative roles have included elementary assistant principal, elementary principal, and
high school assistant principal, leading to district-level service as the Director of Technology and
Secondary Education, and then as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services for
San Luis Coastal Unified School District. In 2022, she completed her educational journey by earning
her doctorate in Organizational Leadership where she completed a phenomenological study on
the benefits and detriments of parcel taxes.

Dr. McGrath's dedication to educational excellence extends beyond our district, showcasing a professional commitment to statewide innovation. She was honored to be appointed by the President of the California School Boards Association (CSBA) to serve on the prestigious Superintendent Advisory Council, a state-level appointment providing crucial insight into education policy across California. Furthermore, Dr. McGrath participated in the CSBA's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Task Force. This forward-thinking involvement brings cutting-edge perspectives directly back to the Reed Union School District.
