    Del Mar provides a daily academic program in language arts, math, science, history/ social studies, and physical education, with a wide variety of electives. Electives include Spanish, Instrumental Music, Steel Band, Yearbook, a variety of art classes, and multi-media. Class size in academic subjects ranges from 21 to 26. There are several programs to support students with special needs including the resource program, speech and language services, Occupational therapy, a county-run special day class, a strategies elective, and an individualized humanities class for a small number of eighth graders.

    Del Mar initiated its Millennial Classroom Project in the fall of 2005. Every student has been provided with a laptop to which gives them access to technology 24/7. Teachers are integrating this powerful tool into their daily instruction. The school facility includes a gymnasium, library, cyber lounge, snack bar, and athletic field. On staff are 24 teachers, a principal, assistant principal, media specialist, office staff, custodial staff, and part-time counselor, school psychologist, and instructional assistants.

    Del Mar has been named a California Distinguished Middle School in recognition of its academic excellence, elective program, leadership programs, extra-curricular activities, advisory program, and parent involvement. The Millennial Classroom Project will provide opportunities to expand student learning beyond the classroom walls and beyond the school day.
