WHERE DID THIS TERRITORY TRANSFER ORIGINATE FROM?
Background information - The Reed Union School District includes residents of Tiburon, Belvedere, and East Corte Madera. In East Corte Madera, some residents within the RUSD boundaries live in close proximity to The Cove School run by LCMSD. In 2017, RUSD and LCMSD entered into an Inter-District Attendance agreement that was mutually beneficial due to RUSD’s overflowing enrollment and LCMSD’s need for enrollment at The Cove School. This 5-year Agreement (2017-2022) included payment equal to the then-applicable residential parcel tax rate of LCMSD ($712.96/2017-18, $748.60/2018-19, $786.04/2019.20, $825.34/2020-21, $866.60/2021-22) paid from RUSD to LCMSD for the families with students who were granted an Inter-District Transfer (IDT) permit. This Agreement came to an end in June, 2022.
There are two more dates set for discussions between the two districts on this topic: November 9th & November 15th.
