My name is Eric Kaiser and I am proud to be the Foundation supported Reed School Physical Education teacher. A little bit about me... I am from Larkspur, CA and a graduate of Redwood High School, College of Marin, and San Francisco State University. I received my single subject teaching credential from National University. I have a 12-year-old daughter in the 7th grade and we both enjoy an active lifestyle with a lot of sailing, snowboarding, bowling, skateboarding, bicycling and music. I am passionate about all of the sports we do, but my main love is racing sailboats on San Francisco Bay. I am a member of the San Francisco Bay Folkboat Assoc. and actively race in regattas here and in Northern Europe. When I'm not sailing and I need to recharge you can find me on Mt. Tam riding my bike or hiking. Keep an eye out in the mornings as I often ride my bike to work!
I believe that all students are unique and have special gifts and talents. I do my best to help kids discover and nurture those attributes. I feel it is crucial to create a safe learning environment, both physically and emotionally, where kids feel comfortable taking risks and learning how to move and use their bodies in new and different ways. Being consistent with class structure and routines allows kids to thrive. Being firm and fair at all times, modeling expected behaviors, and taking the time to make things right shows kids the respect they and I deserve. Physical Educations class is all about learning to be active for a lifetime. At Reed School, students will learn how their bodies move and work, improve gross and fine motor skills, make themselves stronger, develop confidence and leadership skills, take risks, get along with others, and enjoy the journey.
