2020-2021 DEL MAR MIDDLE SCHOOL NEWSLETTERS
January 20, 2021
Phase 3 is off to a great start. Students appear happier and more engaged and I hope that energy is carried home. It is refreshing to see more students more often on Del Mar's campus. As a community, it is important that we all maintain focus on safety protocols and Marin Public Health guidelines so we can continue to keep our campus open.

Progress Alerts, formally known as Progress Reports, will go out next week. If you receive a Progress Alert, it is important to take some time to sit down with your child and review the alert. The purpose of these alerts is to let both the student and family know that their teacher is concerned that they are not meeting expectations or making progress towards the standards (academic and/or Habits of Learning).

We are looking forward to welcoming students back to campus next week as we begin Phase 3 of our plan for re-entry. We have spent countless hours to ensure that our campus will be a protected and safe place where students can thrive and learn.

Last week we had our first confirmed positive COVID cases in our Del Mar community. We knew through our work with Marin Public Health that this day was inevitable. I am proud that the safety measures we put into place in Phase 2; specifically around stable split cohorts, have allowed us to safely respond to this incident and minimize the impact of quarantining a small number of students.

We had a super spirited celebration with our "A" students today! "B" cohort students: On Friday, wear a Halloween costume, any Del Mar Spirit wear (our colors are blue and yellow!!) bunny ears, a tail, a full on costume...whatever you'd like--just SOMETHING FUN.... or even a bit scary!

What an exciting week and a half it's been, with most of our students back on campus! Seven long months have passed since we have seen our students in classrooms and on campus. I am so proud of them. Our students continue to demonstrate incredible resilience and flexibility through all of our different iterations of learning this school year.
