Is
my home in the Reed Union School District?
The
Reed Union School District serves Belvedere, Tiburon, and part of
East Corte Madera. There are some areas, however, which are not part
of the district, even though they may appear to be part of Tiburon
and may indeed carry Tiburon in their mailing address. Cypress Hollow,
Strawberry, and Strawberry Point areas are in the Mill Valley School
District. The Marin County Assessor's Office (415-499-7215, X6) can
quickly answer whether or not an address is in a particular school
district by simply looking to see what school district receives your
school property tax dollars. You may also contact our Superintendent's
Office at 415-381-1112 for further information concerning District
boundaries.
How do I register my child for School?
Children are registered directly at the school site. If you are registering
more than one child, it is necessary to show each school site all of
the documents required for registration. Questions or concerns may
be directed to the School Principal at each school. In the summer,
you should contact the District Superintendent's Office.

How do I apply for an
interdistrict transfer?
District Policy: The Reed Union School District is a Basic
Aid District, which means that our district does not receive additional
funds from the State to support students who transfer into the District
. As a result, every student who attends the District, through an
interdistrict transfer, reduces the support available to students
who reside in the District. Therefore, this district will approve
interdistrict transfers into the district ONLY under exceptional
circumstances unique to the child concerned, when no other suitable
school attendance option exists, and when the other criteria (see
below) specified have been satisfied:
Space is available.
Student Applicant has a satisfactory citizenship
record.
The Districts finds the transfer is in the best interests
of the student applicant and the District.
The transfer does not adversely
affect an existing desegregation plan of the District or the district
of residence.
Student Applicant has appropriately agreed to and signed
an Interdistrict Attendance Contract.
Interdistrict transfers must
be approved by both school districts - district of residence and
district of desired attendance. Interdistrict transfers are approved
annually and only for one school year. Renewal applications must
be made yearly (usually in May). The same criteria for approval that
are applied to new transfer requests will be applied to renewal requests.
Requests for transfers for "Into" and "Out
of" the district are done in the same way:
How to Apply:
Obtain a Request for Interdistrict Transfer form (this
form may be obtained from either of the districts superintendent's
office). Complete and return request form to the district of residence's
Superintendent's Office. When approved by the district of residence
it will be forwarded to the district of desired attendance Superintendent's
Office. When approved by both districts, the applicant will be notified
by mail.
Reed District's interdistrict transfer policies are available
from the Superintendent's Office. For copies of the policies or for
any further information concerning interdistrict transfer requests,
please call the Superintendent's Office (415-381-1112). |
