SARC/State Reports

 

School Accountability Report Cards (SARC):

California public schools annually provide information about themselves to the community allowing the public to evaluate and compare schools for student achievement, environment, resources and demographics.  These reports are generally published in March and reflect data gathered from the prior school year.


STAR Report

Standardized Testing and Reporting Program

 The STAR achievement testing is administered to all students in grades 2 through 11, based on the California framework standards.  All students are assessed with the California Standards Test in English/Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics.  The seventh grade ELA assessment includes a direct writing sample.  Fifth and eighth graders are assessed in Science and eighth graders are also assessed in middle school History/Social Science curricula.  Seventh and eighth graders take math tests in the course work that they will have completed by the end of the year (general math, algebra, or geometry).  Special Education students may take the California Modified Assessment measuring grade level standards, but with fewer choices per item and items per page.  Proficiency scores are reported for individual students, by grade level, school, district, county, and for the State of California.

API

Academic Performance Index

A school's API is a number that ranges from 200 to 1000 and is calculated from the results for each school's students the prior spring's STAR test.  The state has set 800 as the API target for all schools to meet.


 The Academic Performance Index (API) is a measurement of school achievement for accountability purposes as a result of the 1999 Public Schools Accountability Act (PSAA).  More details about the PSAA and updates on related school accountability systems can be found on the PSAA web site.

The state recently released the 2010 API score based on last year's test results.  Our schools continue to be among the top performing schools in the state.
